Georgetown TX Art For Animals

Eddie, a beloved Shelter Dog who found his forever home and belongs to my friend, Michelle

Sunday, October 23, found Georgetown animal lovers at  Art for Animals: A Chocolate Affair. The 5th annual Art for Animals benefit and auction  raises money for animals at the City of Georgetown Texas Animal Shelter and this year had a special dedication.

The special event held at the Community Center located in San Gabriel Park featured silent and live art auctions.  Attendees enjoyed scrumptious desserts and gourmet coffee as well as live music courtesy of the Southwestern University music ensemble.

Silent and live auctions  included 300 pieces of artwork including paintings, ceramics, jewelry, textile and fiber art, and other hand-crafted items. Auction items also featured gift certificates to the theater, golf, a bed and breakfast get-away, and several restaurants. Special paintings made by the animals at the shelter were als up for bids.  To see some of the auction items, go to www.artforanimals.georgetown.org. All proceeds go to the City of Georgetown Texas Animal Shelter.

Art for Animals this year paid special tribute to the memory of Curt Rutledge, an animal shelter volunteer who devoted many hours to the dogs at the shelter. Sadly, Curt passed away earlier this year and he is very missed by all who knew him. He brought a passion for helping shelter animals and families find each other and his devotion to educating pet owners and helping people find the right pets for their lifestyle will be carried on.
