Learn to Detect and Avoid Homeowner-Related Scams

Maybe you have received one of those suspicious emails from a destitute “family member” asking for money or you got a phone call from the “IRA” that says you haven’t paid your taxes… with all the email, mail and unsolicited phone calls, it is becoming more and more difficult to determine what is legitimate and what might be a scam.  Scammers often utilize public information pertaining to home ownership to take advantage of responsible property owners.

Home owners are now the new target with scams such as title fraud and mortgage fraud.  Also, scammers often prey on seniors hoping that they aren’t savvy enough to detect the scheme.

At the next Seniors Living Smarter seminar you will learn how to detect and avoid scams targeting homeowners.  Our expert panelists are representatives from Adult Protective Services and the Georgetown Police Department, Criminal Investigations Division.
