As your dreams turn to retirement and an active lifestyle, others considering a move to Georgetown are thinking of careers, families, and yes, also an active lifestyle. That’s why the entire region — the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos market, which includes Georgetown, is growing faster than any other region in the nation.
Part of the appeal is the influx of major employers and jobs underway in Austin including:
- Apple Computer
- General Motors
- Visa Card Center
- Samsung
- New UT Medical School & Teaching Hospital
- New Veterans Hospital
As a result, total job growth in the region is expected to reach almost 60,000 over the next two years. Long-term projections show that job growth will continue as will population growth. Which means that the economic outlook is healthy for the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos market. Furthermore, economists foresee continued growth that is robust to sustain the lifestyle that draws us all to Georgetown and Sun City.
In a recent presentation to the Georgetown Rotary, Mayor George Garver revealed growth projections for the city which showed that home sales are up 27 percent. He also indicated that economic expansion right here is dynamic with new and expanded facilities built by employers in medical, biotechnology and data center industries. And the city has plans in motion to pace the growth with services and amenities that make Georgetown such a special place.
