Sunday, February 26, will be a special day for classical music lovers in the Georgetown TX area as internationally renowned violinist, Elizabeth Pitcairn, brings her famous “Red Mendelssohn” violin to the Klett Performing Arts Center at the Georgetown High School. The historic Stradivarius violin was crafted in 1720 in Italy. Pitcairn acquired the historic violin, once belonging to the Mendelssohn family, in 1990. Sponsored by the Georgetown Festival of the Arts, the Georgetown Symphony Society, the Georgetown Independent School District, Fine Arts Division, and the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra, the concert program will include music by W. A. Mozart, J. Turina, and R. Schumann. Bruce Williams, Principal Violist of the Austin Symphony; Hai Zheng-Olefsky, Professor of Cello, Southwestern University, and Toby Blumenthal, Steinway Artist, will perform with Pitcairn.
