The Legacy of Trees Gala & Auction at The Legacy at Georgetown on Thursday, December 4, was a huge success. The silent auction of Christmas Trees raised $2,300 for Honor Flight Austin, while residents of The Legacy, guests and community members enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and festive cocktails.

There were15 trees donated by businesses including my Christmas Memories tree which was purchased by Daniel Doré of Medixx Ambulance Service for his family. I purchased a special tree donated by the Park Place Care Center that had been decorated by residents of the Center. I gave my tree to The Legacy, where residents were looking forward to adding more decorations of their own.

The mission of Honor Flight Austin is “to transport veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices and return them home to their families and loved ones.” Six World War II veterans living at The Legacy have been on an Honor Flight to Washington. It is a wonderful tribute to our “greatest generation.”
