Retirement, Boomer-Style in Georgetown, Texas

Blue Heron Trail Hikers

I just saw some statistics about attitudes of Baby Boomers as they approach age 65, and it’s not their parents’ retirement. Just consider these numbers from a recent survey by the parent company of Sun City developers, Del Webb:

    • 62% of boomers are focused on activities and hobbies that enhance physical and mental well-being
    • 51% plan to work longer to prevent boredom and maintain a sense of purpose
    • 51% also plan to spend more time focused on family
    • 46% like to work and do so for self-satisfaction

Here in Georgetown, Texas, retirement lifestyle is being redefined by people moving here who absolutely refuse to shuffle-off to that shuffleboard retirement their parents chose.
